“Describe a time you caught a quality problem before handoff.”

At a volunteer meal service, I noticed a tray had no preparation label. I did not try to infer its age from how it looked. I kept it from being served and asked the kitchen lead to identify it. They could not confirm the missing information, so they handled it according to the event procedure and directed us to a verified replacement. I then checked the remaining trays for labels before service continued. We had to adjust our setup, but we did not make an unsupported claim about the tray. Afterwards I suggested a check at the handoff between preparation and serving so the same uncertainty would be noticed earlier.
