“Describe a time user research overturned your design assumption.”
For a personal mobile prototype, I assumed the main action should be represented by an icon to keep the screen clean. In an informal usability session, participants interpreted it in different ways. I asked them to describe what they expected before tapping, then compared their answers with the intended action. I replaced the icon-only control with a short text label and repeated the task with different volunteers. They understood it more consistently, but the small convenience sample was not proof of universal usability. In my portfolio I show the first version, the observations and the revision, including what I would test next with representative users.
