“Tell me about a time you fixed a problem that tests initially missed.”
On a personal booking project, my happy-path tests passed, but retrying after a slow response created duplicate reservations. I reproduced the failure with two identical requests and found that the application created a new record each time. I added a unique request identifier and a database constraint, then tested simultaneous requests and retries after a timeout. I also changed the response so a repeat request returned the original reservation. The new tests showed that those retries created one record. I did not have production traffic, so I would describe this as a verified project fix, not a customer-impact metric. It taught me to test failure and retry behavior explicitly.
