“Tell me about a time you helped someone who was frustrated by a delay.”

A customer at a local shop was upset because a replacement part had not arrived. I let them explain, then checked the order record and the supplier update before saying what I could do. I found the original delivery estimate had changed, so I explained that clearly and apologized for not having a firm date. I offered the alternatives our manager had authorized and recorded the option the customer chose. I did not promise a faster shipment that I could not control. At the end, I repeated the next step and when we would contact them. The customer left with a plan, and my colleague could follow the notes without asking them to repeat the story.
